engagement!

Here's how it went down!

I was supposed to go to Austin on Friday for Carrie's baby shower. (click Carries name for her blog)  i was so pumped for it!! i was also  going to get to see Rebecca. (Carrie and Rebecca are my two best friends from college, who i miss a ton) i would move to austin tomorrow if it were closer to my family to live in the same town as these two!!!

Anyway, plans fell through and i didnt end up going. Little did i know that i kind of messed up Cody's plans. oh well....

So Friday, mom and i took off work and we went to Marshall for a baseball tournament. it was so fun!!! the weather was awesome. and i always love talking to the baseball moms and even better, Cody's parents came and mom and i and russell got to hang out with them, which was SO FUN!!!!! (They all knew Cody's plan to ask me on saturday.....) i decided not to go to austin and threw everyone for a loop.

So Saturday, i woke up and cody came over and we went and played with reese and the triplets and Ashley. (my long time best friend.... this past year she had NATURAL TRIPLETS and already had a 1 year old. they are so fun to play with). while holding one of the triplets, i saw a text on cody's phone that said something about "the eagle has landed." i made a mental note and thought hmmmm......After that, we went and ate at China Inn. I was whining about how i wished we could be engaged so i could talk about it and start planning stuff (we are learning that i have a little control FREAK in me....hmmmm)(now that im writing it, how lame that i was whining) Cody said, "well maybe we can get engaged in May".....i was thinking....YEAH RIGHT.....oh well, i left the lunch thinking....oh well, still confused...it drove me crazy that i didnt know what he was up to...

So cody left for his game, and my mom encouraged me to go take a shower and come over and we would go to TJ Maxx. I got ready and went over....We didnt end up going but i guess moms mission for me to take a shower and wash my hair (rarity) Anyway, went to Cody's game, afterwards, we all went to eat and cody was supposed to meet us. 

Well cody never showed up during dinner. so i told mom i was going to take his food and go home. I called Cody and he said he had been talking to a parent about their child blah blah blah. He, also, said he was at his apartment cleaning and could i come help. (weird, why couldnt he have met us at the restaurant....) Well when i got to his apt, cody told me he was at my house (weird) and to go in and get me a pair of socks and bring them to my house where he was. (but he had just told me he was at his house cleaning) (Point and Case: Cody is a bad liar.) (but thats a good quality) so i start heading to my house really really knowing cody is up to something  and he asked me about 100000 times "where are you now".  so anyway, i finally get to my house where cody is. 
Cody had a note written on my front door saying "read before entering!" it was really sweet and told me how he felt about me and how God had put us together.....you get the point....so i walked in and the lights are off and cody was in my kitchen waiting on me!!!
if only yall could have felt the heat in my small house. he had lit SO MANY candles. oh and cody had forgotten his lighter so he lit them all with matches and candles. haha.
even though i suspected (mom and russell are calling me nancy drew) i still was so excited and shocked!!!!! what cody did was perfect bc i told him even though i was an outgoing person, i still get shy randomly so DONT propose in front of a lot of people bc i probably wouldnt give him the reaction he was wanting. so what he did was perfect! he listened to me!!!!! the original plan included cody's parents being in town to eat lasagna.... which now im sad they couldnt come. that would have been so fun!!!! oh well, im sure there are many more to come....

someone should have WARNED me about all the phone calls i would have to make! DANG! my phone has been ringing off the hook! its fun but i wish i could space them all out and talk to everyone a longgggg time :)

HERE IS MY RING
i LOVE it. its exactly what i wanted. and my wedding band will be similar and i will just stack them up! right now i have my grandmothers wedding band from the 50s paired with it and i love the way it looks. i love love love love love it!

if you would have told me a year ago....wait 6 months ago...that i would be engaged right now....much less a guy like Cody.... i would have thought you were crazy. but once again, Gods plan prevails and God knew what i needed more than i thought i did. Thank GOODNESS. im just glad Cody and i were opened minded enough to give each other a chance! i never thought cody would be such a loving sweet sensitive kind fun loving person. I really love his love for all kinds of people. but he exceeded my expectations and just when i think i know him, i learn so much more fun qualities about him! how fun! im so excited!!! and im glad he took a chance on an quirky artsy girl like me, who thought a crowhop was a dance move not a baseball move.       we are both learning.... :)

ok im not gonna make this too long. im sure the next 8 months of my blog will be about Cody and wedding..... so keep on staying tuned for moooooooore from ALI AND CODY!!!!

now im off to get organized, while Cody is serenading me on gutair hero. i cannot wait to get things nailed down so i can be a stress free bride!!!!!!!!! ORGANIZATION, PEOPLE!!!!!
